Pre-authorisation payments: What are they and how do they work?
The overwhelming majority of Hart Taxis journeys are now paid in advance via paylink where a transaction is carried out between you, our customer, and your bank / credit card provider. Since Hart Taxis brought this system into place in June 2020 it has rapidly become the most popular way for our customers to pay for their transport in a secure 3D environment which totally protects you and Hart Taxis from any potential fraud.
When you pay via paylink an additional 20% is added on top to cover any potential waiting time, car park fees, or driver tip etc.
For example if a fare is quoted is £30 your bank will put aside £36 via the pre-authorisation which shows on your account which can’t be spent until the trip is completed by ourselves or cancelled.
With these paylinks only being a pre-authorisation it means that your bank / credit card provider only pays Hart Taxis after the journey is completed or if the trip is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice. Until then the funds never leave your bank or credit card account but will just remain as pending.
Once the trip is completed and if there are no extras (as is the case with 99% of fares) then your bank / credit card company will pay Hart Taxis £30 releasing the remaining funds for you to spend.
