Congratulations to Roy Sheriff on winning 96.4 Eagle Radios “Inspiration in Business Award 2014” – sponsored by Natural Instinct. This is a huge achievement for Roy and Hart Taxis, which is a family run business considering the position they found themselves in less than 18 years ago.
It is the story behind the firm, and the man who started it, that is so inspirational. Having gone through a tough childhood and then finding himself homeless for several years, Roy started the company with just two cars. It is down to his hard work that Hart Taxis has grown from strength to strength ever since. But more than just being a good businessman, Roy’s work in the community was recognised by this award. Whether it is digging cars out of the snow, supporting his drivers through difficult personal challenges or offering a discount to customers from the military; Roy has built a business that succeeds because it puts people first.
Roy said “I am delighted and honored to receive this award and would like to say thank you to Royal British Legion, SSAFA and Haig Homes who are three amazing armed forces charities. My wife and I were living in a homeless shelter in Camberley when our twin daughters were born, SSAFA, British Legion along with the army made contact with Haig Homes. Thanks to these charities, our family where able to move into a brand new home in Winchfield before our girls where 10 weeks old. The other two people we’d both like thank is Caitriona McGee and Michael Newcombe both working for Four Seasons, Dogmersfield, Hampshire for years of support, advice and general business mentoring. Hart Taxis probably wouldn’t be the success it is today without you two”
